Product Spotlight – Soap Bars

Handcrafted soaps, also known as "handmade or homemade soap", can be made from scratch by using either the cold or hot process methods…we use the cold process method.

Soap is created by combining correctly measured blend of fatty acids (oils) and sodium hydroxide (lye), and when the fatty acids come into contact with the sodium hydroxide and it goes through a process called Saponification. Saponification literally means "soap making" from the root word, "sapo", which is Latin for soap. The by-products of the Saponification reaction are glycerin and soap, because when prepared properly the transformation leaves no lye remaining in the soap and your results are a pure and safe bar of soap.

At Luster Canyon, Inc. use quality ingredients, beginning our recipes with a variety of vegetable oils such as Coconut, Olive and Palm. We then add specialty oils and butters, that when combined together bring all the best qualities to your completed bar of soap.

Fragrance oils or essential oils are sometimes added for scent, and for color or design; we use cosmetic-grade micas, pigments, and natural herbs and spices.

Our soap bars are priced from $4.00 to $5.00 per bar, at our Etsy site.

Heading to Vegas!

Tomorrow is our 20th wedding anniversary so we are heading to Vegas today!! It will be my first time here, and we are only staying 2 nights, but with everything I want to do…I forsee another trip in the future.

We are scheduled to see a show on the night we arrive. La Reve. We wanted to see one of the cirque du soliel shows…but wouldn’t you know our luck, they are sold out those 2 nights we are there…so La Reve it is!

I also hope to see the Treasure Island Pirate Show, Bellagio Fountains, Freemont Street, Mirage Volcano…and since most things are best viewed or only viewed at night…it will be hard packing this all in...especially since I am still not 100% back to better. But whatever we do, even if just chilling by the pool at our borrowed condo...it will be great!!

We are leaving the Etsy shop open, and any orders received will mail out Thursday.

Weekend Report...

...The weekend isnt over yet...but my report wont change...still in my jammers thanks to a bout with food poisoning. :(

Woke up Friday at 3am SICKER THAN SICK!! At 6am I woke up my daughter to help me...nothing she could do, but I guess I just needed someome up with me...hubby was working.

When hubby came home at 10am...I reached the point of thinking I was going to die...it was time to go to the Emergency Room...where I spent most of Friday getting 2 IV bags of fluid and 2 doses of whatever that wonderful stuff that helps your stomach not feel so ill.

We grilled chicken the night before, but mine apparently wasnt done all the way, or we thawed it wrong...either way I think it might be ahwile before I want chicken again.

So have been resting up trying to feel better for our mini getaway this week.

Scent Spotlight – Unscented

Let’s take a closer look at our scents…what do we offer…what do they smell like…what do our customers say about them.

Lets first start with Unscented…I know, I know…that has no scent!! Exactly!! There should be no scent at all in your unscented lotion, and at first I was surprised when people seemed amazed by this. They say some lotions have a smell/odor to them. I am not sure what would cause this, but it may depend on their additives? But at Luster Canyon our unscented lotion smells like….well nothing.

So who would want to have a lotion that smells like nothing??
** Someone with sensitivities to smells
** Someone who likes to wear their favorite perfume and not have a competing scent on their skin
** And some people just like to have unscented lotion as they prefer to moisturize with no smell at all.

We had a wonderful time in Prescott at the courthouse square with our show. The weather was wonderful.

Sunday was a bit windy, but all in all it was a great time...well except for the tree next to us loaded with ladybugs...silly childhood fear that is still there, lol.
